Phillip is the founder of Parra Counseling and Wellness Services. He began his Social Work career in 1989 with the County of San Bernardino. In 2012 he moved to Veteran affairs where he provided support and counseling to Veterans and their families. He retired from government service in 2023 and now works exclusively in private practice.
During his 34 years of government service, he worked with various social work programs. Each of these programs had individuals and families in need of social services, guidance, and counseling. These years prepared him for the clinical work he does today and his desire to help people cope with life’s struggles and the many obstacles they often face. He is highly effective working with adults and teens who struggle with anxiety and depression, PTSD, and self-worth. He has experience working with mature adults and related issues, teens- peer pressure and identity, anger management, LGBTQ+, alcohol and substance abuse, Veteran issues, and family and marriage counseling. Phillip has an ability to engage with people and help them navigate life’s struggles and overcome past difficulties and trauma. He believes that negative thinking is often a disruption to our true potential, and that therapy can help us think and perceive differently.
